I hope i speak for most here when I say F off. Do your own research like we did. If you feel you are above paying for services in this hobby then I am sure none of us thinks we need any documentary from someone who doesn't support what we enjoy.

Welcome to emp go out and get an erotic massage or give up. Been too many documentaries already painting an inaccurate picture based on what will sell their story. The "sex trade" as previous researchers have labeled it, doesn't need or want any documentary. The "sex economy" is fine.

We have no reason to trust you will do anything but damage the hobby.

Dave Jermyn,
It seems you have no credibility with us. Your approach appears a bit primitive and unprofessional for Nat Geo. If you are an independent, speculating on scoring big with a major publisher, you have a long row to hoe; but, good luck with that.

You are leaving some of us thinking you simply are seeking cyber jollies or phone sex from us hobbyist.

Hi Guys,

It wasn't my intention to offend. As mentioned in my first message, the specific kind of research I'm looking for is to hear the views and experiences of different hobbyists, so I can build up a more accurate picture of the hobby. And to further see if anyone would be interested in speaking anonymously about the hobby for the documentary, or knows someone who might be willing to.

The whole point is to paint an accurate picture of the hobby, by hearing from the hobbyists themselves, rather than relying on the pre-conceived ideas, the stigma, and the moralizing that is the usual means of telling this story.

As for credibility, that is why I mentioned our other production Drugs Inc. If you've seen it, you'll know that we've gone to great lengths to search out both sides of every drug issue we've explored, in order to let the audience draw their own conclusions.

We are aiming to apply the same model here. And that is why I've come to you. Without a hobbyist's voice, we won't be able to provide your point of view. I think it's a point of view worth sharing. Otherwise I wouldn't be here.

If you don't want to participate, I completely understand. But if you have any thoughts that you'd like to share to help me tell a more accurate story - even if it's just here on this message board - it would be very helpful.

I also realize I forgot to include my email in my last message. If anyone wants to reach me there privately, you're more than welcome.

Thanks for your time,

David

You want a client perspective go be a client and as I previously said do your own research. By that I dont mean asking client's questions.
Or are you above paying for services?? If you are get lost and don't come back.

No I'm not above paying for services. I actually have no problem with the idea of paying for services, as I think them to be a very valid and beneficial business between consenting adults, despite their legal status. That's part of the reason I was interested in pushing for this side of things to get a hearing in this documentary.

But this isn't a documentary where my first-hand experience as a client would be at all relevant anyway. Because I'd still be a tourist to the hobby, and it wouldn't make sense in the story. The documentary needs the experiences and perspectives of a legitimate and genuine veteran client to give it credibility. And ultimately, I'm looking for someone willing to (anonymously, by protecting his identity) give voice to those perspectives in our documentary.

I'm also asking questions to clients to try to better understand any common trends or opinions, so that our presentation of the hobby most accurately reflects the reality (rather than falling back on the usual nonsense assumptions and moral panic). That too is something I can't get by becoming a client myself. That requires feedback from guys like you and the other members here at EMP.

Does that clarify my position?

There is no shortage of one sided documentary stories.
The only way one of us would give you the information you seek
would be if we had a contractual guarantee that editing would not change intended meaning.
Clearly, there is no reasonable way you could offer such a guarantee.
Phrased more succinctly, we don't want our words twisted to fit the message you
intend to portray in your documentary.

Oh and as I said before f*ck off. The hobby doesn't need you to tell our story.
