Although not reported at all by local media, Japanese Spa was the target of a late afternoon raid by LE. I believe the date was Feb 3rd.
Apparently an undercover officer first visited the location, followed by several uniformed officers. Several employees were taken into custody.
The Spa's business license was revoked on Feb 4th.

I hear that Japanese Spa has re-opened their doors, but several former employees refused to work out of concern they may be raided again. Since they are now operating w/o a valid business license, that is certainly a valid concern.

It looks like Japanese Spa has not been reviewed on this site in over a year, but there are several reviews for it in the last few months on rubmaps. I hope nothing in those reviews prompted this raid!

I seriously doubt it did. Their reviews were somewhat tame compared to other spa's. More than likely a set-up by former partners as it has changed hands several times in last couple of years. Basic reviews do not prompt LE to raid, almost always raids are due to multiple complaints from customers, competition or neighboring businesses.

I agree completely, Subicman
